College Counseling
High school counselors typically have a large student load. They often do not have time to focus 1-on-1 with every student. Based on experience, I will help students with every step of the college application process. From creating résumés to crafting a compelling college application essay, I am prepared to help students achieve acceptance into the colleges of their choice. My former students have been accepted into all types of universities: state, liberal arts, highly select, and Ivy League.
Writing Tutorials
As a premier tutor, I can assist Junior High and High School students with every step of the writing process. After having taught College Level Composition (ACCP with Rockhurst University in Kansas City) for over 20 years, I know from vast experience that the most effective writing instruction is the 1-on-1 conferencing. I am also able to assist as a Writing Coach with online Tutoring.
Reading
Comprehension - ELL
I have taught literature for over 30 years, and recently have worked on my Reading Certification and ELL skills. I am more than prepared to assist students Grades 4 – 12 with reading skills that will increase reading comprehension and ability. Additionally, I have been assisting adult non-
English speaking participants at local centers with reading and speaking skills.
Standardized Test Preparation
I have taught ACT courses in my career, and have also tutored for the AP Language and Literature courses. I am prepared to share test-taking skills including time management, logic, and comprehension. As a premier tutor, I am particularly apt at coaching in grammar and writing components of standardized tests.
